The National System of structured e-Invoices, which the Ministry of Finance has been working on since 2021, aims to tighten the tax system, eliminate errors in VAT settlements, and facilitate access to invoices for entrepreneurs and their accountants.

The system will give invoices an individual identification number and verify the accuracy of issued invoices. Thanks to the structuring, all documents will look the same, this will facilitate foreign transactions bypassing the current problems of differences that relate to the mandatory information contained on invoices, depending on the country.

In the current format, it is voluntary. It was supposed to go into effect mandatorily on 01.07.2024, but the deadline has been postponed until 2026. As of February 1, 2026, it will be mandatory for entrepreneurs whose sales value in the previous fiscal year exceeded PLN 200 million and as of April 1, 2026 for all entrepreneurs. The platform's main problem proved to be capacity. In addition to a number of IT glitches, another major problem was the inability to issue invoices during system failures, which would cause business operations to grind to a halt.

A legal consultation on the implementation of the National System of e-Invoices was held in March.

Nine meetings were held, which were extremely popular, with about 10,000 people attending both onsite and online.

On April 26, 2024, the Ministry of Finance announced the results of an audit on the National System of e-Invoices. One of the most important findings was that there were flaws in the designed architecture of the system resulting in the entire system having to be redesigned.

We believe that the National System of e-Invoices will be a huge convenience for entrepreneurs and accountants.
